The term tends to relate to the club activities abroad. Over the years various members of the club have grouped together and organised trips to the Alps and Greater ranges. These trips have usually incorporated a mixture of walking, trekking, rock or ice climbing, and ascents of major peaks involving glacier travel at high altitude.
These activities are perhaps best illustrated by naming a few of the areas visited:- The Alps; Canada (Banff, Bugaboos, Jasper); North America (Tetons, Wind Rivers, New England Ice); Equador (Volcanoes and jungle!); Peru; Argentina and Chile (Patagonia); Nepal (Annapurna circuit and sanctuary, Amma Dablam). This is just a small selection and illustrates the experience and enthusiasm of the core membership.
