Important Information about The Loft & Tyndrum

It is vital that during the winter months water systems are drained down to avoid burst pipes. We have perhaps been lulled into a false sense of security over the last few mild winters -but this winter isn't finished with us yet!

When it gets to -10C there is only one thing water can do - freeze and pop pipes!!!

The caravan system at Tyndrum had been left undrained by one set of visitors in January and this caused several bursts and a 25mm split in the heat exchanger on the water heater. Normally this would mean £100+ bill for a new one but special thanks to Dave Lomas for spending a day sorting it out including hunting down a bloke with a brazing kit in Killin!

Both the Loft and the caravan have clear step by step instructions as to what to do when leaving.

From the Hut Wardens - Blea Tarn and Tyndrum

The LMC has received a number of complaints from the residents of Blea Tarn House (next to the Loft) about the behaviour of people using the Loft and the Solitary. This is very unfortunate as they have been perfect neighbours and we wish to maintain a good relationship with them both now and in the future.

The Committee asks all groups and individuals using the Loft to ensure these simple basics are adhered to:

Thanks for your continued support, and enjoy your stay at the Loft.
