Tyndrum Caravan

The LMC Caravan at Tyndrum

The LMC Caravan is located in a small caravan park in Tyndrum.

Map Reference 329301

We are now installed in our third caravan. The first one was an experiment which was perceived to have been successful. Accordingly a larger van was bought when the opportunity arose and became a much loved base for our now aging Munroists. Unfortunately this van gradually succumbed to the ravages of the Scottish climate and has recently been demolished and replaced by a smaller, but sounder, van on the same site.

We have the use of the toilet and shower block on site and there is a pub within walking distance.

Tyndrum is within a Friday night drive from Lancashire, is close to Glencoe, an hour from the Ben and has 75 Munros and 65 Corbetts within a reasonable drive.

Important Information about The Lof & Tyndrum

It is vital that during the winter months water systems are drained down to avoid burst pipes. We have perhaps been lulled into a false sense of security over the last few mild winters -but this winter isn’t finished with us yet!

When it gets to -10C there is only one thing water can do – freeze and pop pipes!!!

The caravan system at Tyndrum had been left undrained by one set of visitors in January and this caused several bursts and a 25mm split in the heat exchanger on the water heater. Normally this would mean £100+ bill for a new one but special thanks to Dave Lomas for spending a day sorting it out including hunting down a bloke with a brazing kit in Killin!

Both the Loft and the caravan have clear step by step instructions as to what to do when leaving.
